OMEF supports our local hospitals by raising funds and engaging local communities; and identify & support local communities’ youth leaders with unique educational resources, volunteer experience and scholarship opportunities.
Shawn Fang has more than 20 years of sales, marketing and financial analysis experience. Shawn obtained an MBA degree from Wilfred Laurier University of Waterloo in 2007 and a Canadian Public Accountant Certificate in 2009. Shawn has more than 10 years’ experience as a financial professional working for large corporations such as Blackberry and IPG Group prior to becoming a full-time real estate agent. Shawn achieved good result in real estate business. Shawn also actively participates in the construction of western communities and builds bridges between the Chinese community and the three-level government. In recognition of his outstanding community service and volunteerism in Oakville, the Rotary Club of Oakville West honored him as a Paul Harris Fellow. He also won Oakville North-Burlington Spirit Award from Local MPP office and got recognition from Mayor’s office of Oakville for exceptional service to local community during 2020 pandemic.
Melody is a creative leader with a proven ability to develop and execute strategies to support community development and an achiever with a strong desire for learning and growing. She has 15+ years of advisory, corporate strategy, and business development experience across four industries in 12 countries. Melody is Ontario registered Professional Engineer and got an MBA degree from University of Oxford. Melody participates in many volunteer jobs include Government Liaison Program Representatives PEO (Professional Engineers Ontario).
Jen graduated from University of British Columbia and Okanagan College with an Honours degree in Business Administration and obtained CPA and CGA designations. With experience in both public and industrial accounting areas for over 10 years, Jen is a senior partner in an accounting firm. As an accountant, she values social responsibilities. She is a mentor for CPA Practical Experience to guide future CPAs to complete their designation. She has organized fundraising events for different organizations for over ten years. She has initiated not-for-profit organizations for women and youth helping them with resumes, interviews, and career advice.
Dr. Xie has more than 20 years of professional experience in educational program design, international partnership and collaborations, talent development for both academic institutes and private sectors in Canada and China. Dr. Xie obtained an MSc and DBA degree from Henley Business School, University of Reading UK.
Dr. Xie spent over 15 years as leader of executive education and professional development for University of Toronto’s China market. He is an entrepreneur with an education passion, who has co-founded several education services and EdTech ventures in Toronto. Dr. Xie serves on many educational boards and Non-for-Profit organizations, including UofT President’s International Council; UofT China Social Media Committee; Parent Involvement Committee at Halton District School Board; Chinese Canadian Association for Civic Engagement.
Carol Chen has worked in the real estate, construction, and engineering design industries for more than 20 years. Carol obtained the CPA Certificate in 2012. During her tenure at a world-renowned construction engineering company, she was responsible for infrastructure projects funded by provincial and municipal governments. Carol not only achieved good results in her profession but also actively participated in local community charity activities, she is the co-founder of the Ontario Multicultural Music Association. In recognition of her outstanding community service and volunteerism in Oakville, the Rotary Club of Oakville West honored her as a Paul Harris Fellow. Shui Luo is a widely experienced business and international transactions lawyer, licensed in both Ontario and China. He has combined experience of almost 20 years practicing in Canada and Greater China, focusing on corporate and commercial business. Prior to founding his own law firm in Oakville in 2020, he had worked with a large Bay Street national firm for several years after obtaining his law degree at the University of Toronto. Shui Luo frequently represents early-stage start-ups and emerging growth companies on corporate and financing matters and is a co-founder and Director of Asia American Innovation Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting innovation business among the Asian community. He is a member and advisor of Waterloo Chinese Business Association and a member of Mississauga Chinese Business Association.
Joyce Dong has more than 10 years of work experience in higher education institutions. She obtained a MSc degree in Health Services Research from University of Toronto and Bachelor of Medicine degree in Preventive Medicine and BSc degree in Economics from Peking University, China. Having worked in several hospitals (SickKids, Toronto WesternHospital and Shijitan Hospital in Beijing) and CDC Beijing, Joyce has obtained a deeper understanding of what it takes to deliver an exceptional healthcare experience and in how to better support health care system and medical students.
